Reverend John Zehring on Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day

Reverend John Zehring

Clara's Card

Good morning Park Avenue congregation!  This Sunday is Mother’s Day.  It is also Anniversary Sunday, where we will acknowledge and bless our silver and gold members who have been a part of our congregation (or Pleasant Street’s congregation) for 25+ and 50+ years.  Kate Lindheim will lead the Children’s Corner and Marianne McPherson will offer the Mother’s Day Morning Prayer.  Preview the scripture below from 1st Corinthians 13 as you prepare yourself to worship and encounter the Divine.  See you Sunday!  Rev. John

If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.  And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.  Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude.  It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth.  (1st Corinthians 13:1-6)
