RACE: Are We So Different: Exhibit at Museum of Science thru May 15th, 2011
February 22, 2011, Tuesday, 7:30pm, Arlington Heights Nursery School, Lower Level, 10 Acton St. (rear entrance). A program about what life was like for African Americans in Arlington through the decades. Sponsored by the Arlington Historical Society. Admission is free for Historical Society members, and $3.00 for others. From the website of the Arlington Historical Society:
Dinner with the “Marcy Family”:Join the multigenerational “Marcy Family” while they sit down to recount their day. As they do, they reveal what life was like for African Americans through the decades in Arlington—from the family’s earliest years to their grandchildren’s time.
April 10, 2011, Sunday 1-3 pm: Housing Corporation of Arlington 10th Annual Walk for Affordable Housing, Jason Russell House, Corner of Mass. Ave. and Jason St. in Arlington, Rain or Shine! Every year, the Walk helps raise funds and awareness for HCA’s work to ensure that our community remains diverse and stable, and that people can actually afford to live here. Please pledge your financial support, and come out on April 13th with neighbors and friends in a leisurely 3-mile walk through Arlington Center to increase public awareness around the desperate need for more affordable housing in Arlington.
