This music can inspire a large alone-yet-connected feeling that only the best jazz can create. No matter the theme and mood, the melodies and rhythms are inextricable. Each composition is an ably-guided journey, and you sense you will not get lost along the way. There is a double-take moment when you realize at a deeper level that a single soul composed all this variety. The quietest embellishment rewards careful listening. This is the type of music you want to share with a close friend while traveling on the open road on a spectacular, star-spangled night.

Shah Hadjebi explained that his group’s musicians come and go and it continues to evolve over time to ever higher levels. They are all pros who join in Shah’s vision and can perform with minimal rehearsal. Each adds to the depth of sound with their diverse backgrounds which have included African American, Persian, Malaysian, and Japanese. You will certainly sense their high level of energy and commitment as they face the audience. Persian Blue played to sold-out performances at the Hard Rock Café as well as other venues over the years and is a recognized contributor to the vibrant Boston music scene. There will be an opportunity to talk with the musicians after their sets.

The group will be including selections from their original CD, “Persian Blue,” as well as their present recording effort, “Departure.” Several tracks on the later start out in familiar territory, but then move into delightful subtle realms of magic far from the source. With any luck, both CDs will be available for purchase.

The church is located at 50 Paul Revere Road at the intersection of Park Avenue and Paul Revere Road, 1 block from Mass. Avenue, in Arlington Heights. The church is handicapped accessible and on an MBTA bus route #77.
