Cabin Fever Coffeehouse with einstein’s little homunculus

By Kathleen Fink

The PACC Concert Series is pleased to welcome back the ever-popular, rollicking einstein’s little homunculus for a Coffeehouse in the Parish Hall at Park Avenue Congregational Church on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 7:30 PM. Doors open at 7 PM. Ticket prices in advance are Adults – $15, Seniors/Students – $10 and at the door, $20 and $12. Advance tickets may be purchased by calling the Church Office at 781-643-8680; the office is open Monday-Friday from 9 AM till 12:30 and after hours a message may be left on the answering machine. Home-made goodies and drinks will be available for purchase before and during the concert.

Since 1994 einstein’s little homunculus has been entertaining multi-generational audiences at schools, folk festivals, concert halls, and contra dances around New England and New York including Club Passim, Night Lights Coffeehouse in Norwalk CT, Eighth Step in Albany NY, and the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in Hillsdale NY. Winners of the Acoustic Underground competition, they have produced multiple CDs and you can learn more about them at their website: www.elh.org.

The multi-talented group uses vocals as well as a wide range of instruments. Among others, you may hear accordion, mandolin, guitar, bass, fiddle, pennywhistles, saxophones, flute, drums, bones, washboard, and even kitchen utensils! Their wide-ranging repertoire includes traditional Celtic jigs and reels, spirited instrumental selections, blues, jazz, folk, music with a Klezmer influence, traditional tunes and original compositions written by vocalist Paul Crook, whose hilariously grown-up children’s songs are reminiscent of the nonsense and wit of Alan Sherman and Tom Lehrer. Their freewheeling style and come-as-you-are attitude encourage audience participation where everyone sings along (and dances!) to their favorite songs. The group’s irresistible foot-tapping music appeals to all ages, so bring along the kids for an evening of witty entertainment and song.

The church is located at 50 Paul Revere Road at the intersection of Park Avenue and Paul Revere Road, 1 block from Mass. Avenue, in Arlington Heights. The church is handicapped accessible and on an MBTA bus route #77. For more information about this concert, or for further information about the concert series please call the Church Office at 781-643-8680 or visit www.pacc-ucc.org/events/concertseries . All Proceeds from the coffeehouse benefit the PACC Music Program and Organ Restoration Fund.
