"For I was hungry and you gave me food, Here at Park Avenue Congregational Church (PACC) we try to care for - and about - our neighbors, both locally and globally. It may mean bringing a meal to someone in the midst of a rough time, donating food for (or time to) the Arlington Food Pantry, participating in Project Bread's Walk for Hunger, going on a mission trip to New Orleans after the devastation of Katrina or providing gift cards, prayer shawls, books and other supplies for folks in the New Orleans area in need, or writing an inmate in prison. These are some of the hands-on activities members at PACC have, or are, involved with. In the spirit of hope and change that people are yearning for, we have started a list of possible Volunteer/Service opportunities. If you know of events we might list, please let us know. We will be adding more as time goes by, so please check back. Part of Mission and Justice's responsibility is to make contributions to support a wide variety of programs at the local, national, and international level. Restorative Justice is gaining support as an alternative to the current judicial system, and is a concept that the Mission & Justice Ministry is very interested in. We have several members who are actively looking for ways to get involved. Briefly, the concept is seeing "crime" as a "HARM" that needs to be addressed by the victim, the community, and the perpetrator. Click on Restorative Justice if you wish further information on that topic. Return to PACC's Home Page Return to Top of this page |
