Music

Music is certainly one of the elements that draws people into a church to experience the worship style within. At PACC, we consider our music to be a very important part of the worship service. We have a long tradition of enjoying music in many different styles, although the majority of our congregation admits to enjoying classical music as played on our historic E. M. Skinner pipe organ. We also are blessed with an extremely talented organist and choir director, who coordinates the organ postludes and preludes with the choir's selections as well as accompanying the hymns throughout the service.

From time to time, the Music Program at PACC works with the Deacons and the Minister to present Special Music Sundays, where the music during worship may be movements from a larger work, such as the Mozart Requiem, or the music may underscore a theme of the worship service, or all the pieces may be from a single composer or style.

We have a very dedicated volunteer choir that leads the music in Sunday services and presents anthems, introits and special music as needed, during the main "season". During the summer months, the choir takes a break while PACC members are encouraged to participate by singing solos or in small groups, or by playing instruments. We have had trios of talented family members playing instrumental selections, and have enjoyed a variety of vocalists presenting pieces ranging from "Godspell" to gospel to folk! Whenever possible we encourage other instrumentalists and vocalists to share their talents during the regular "season" as well.

We have a committed group of individuals who oversee and promote the PACC Concert Series, which began as a single Christmas concert to raise funds for our organ restoration project. This concert series for the benefit of the Organ Restoration Fund at PACC  is now in its 19th season. We promote a wide range of musical talents - artists from local, Arlington residents to the Vienna Vocal Ensemble. We strive to present a variety of musical styles, in a more intimate concert setting. We have a mailing list for information on our upcoming concerts. If you would like to be added to our mailing list, please send your name and address to our church office by clicking here.

Our acoustically vibrant Sanctuary seats 300, and is an impressive contemporary brick and wood space suitable for large groups to perform. Our Parish Hall seats a maximum of 120 in a more informal setting - complete with a proscenium stage and access to our kitchen. The Parish Hall is ideal for coffeehouses and cabaret style revues.
