Fellowship and care

The Fellowship and Care Ministry focuses on the means by which we strengthen our bonds with each other and how we support those among us who are shut-in, ill, or overwhelmed by life’s troubles. The work of the Ministry ranges from visiting members in nursing homes to serving coffee on Sunday mornings. In our move from a committee-based structure to a more flexible ministry-based organization, we still need many volunteers to perform this vital work of the church. The Fellowship and Care Ministry offers the following volunteer opportunities.

Volunteer opportunities

Hospitality

We are looking for volunteers to:

Visitation

We are looking for volunteers to make monthly contact with shut-in members by phone or with a personal visit. If you have never been involved in this aspect of church life, we will provide training and support. Volunteers will be in contact with the Deacon coordinators on a monthly basis.

Hospital visits

We are looking for volunteers to call or visit those who have been hospitalized.

Direct Support

For members whose other commitments would not allow them to participate in a regular monthly schedule of visitation or contact, there are also opportunities to provide direct services to those in need of occasional help and support. Perhaps you could be “on-call” to:

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Shawls: Made for centuries, universal and embracing, symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally-loving God, they wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter, and beautify. Those who have received these shawls have been uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings to fly above their troubles. If you knit or crochet and would like to participate in our prayer shawl ministry, contact Doris Wilson at 781-395-2186.

There are so many ways you can help!

Craft Group

This is a working group that has lots of fun. The primary goal is to create crafts to sell at the holiday fair. Meeting times are determined by the group, but are usually weekday mornings, with occasional evenings. Contact Doris Wilson for more information.
