Bible Study

The Evening Bible Group meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month at 7:30pm in the Fireplace Room. We are led by the Reverend Bill Albright who brings a vast amount of scholarship to our Bible study discussions. We are a group of probing, vocal, enthusiastic participants with a wide array of knowledge of the Bible (or not). All are welcome to join us at any time. No matter what chapter we are studying, you don’t need to have been present from the beginning, to have any knowledge about the Bible, or even to have read the chapter to attend and enjoy the discussion. If you have questions, contact Bill Albright, who leads the group.

During 2010, we studied the two versions of the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew and Luke; and we studied John in detail, including a fascinating overview of John by Pastor Bill, a comparison of Chapter One of John with Chapter One of Genesis, and a discussion of some of the differences between John and the other Gospels motivated by the recent PACC Christian Education discussion of the book “Jesus Interrupted” by Bart Ehrmann.

During 2009, we discussed Paul’s Letter to the Romans addressing a variety of themes including “the new life in Christ,” Paul’s admonition to “be subject to civil authorities,” Jesus’ “love command” à la Paul, a recapitulation of Paul’s perspective on Jews, a few of Paul’s personal comments and plans, Paul’s greeting of the “saints” in Rome, and some closing remarks. We then discussed Paul’s first letter to Timothy, and then the Book of Revelation.
