Transgender 101

What does it mean to be transgender? How do I use all the different terminology correctly? How can I support a transgender person in my family or community?

Join us for “Transgender 101,” a free community event hosted by Park Avenue Congregational Church on Wednesday, May 30th at 7:30pm. Park Avenue Church is located at 50 Paul Revere Rd., Arlington, MA (use the sanctuary entrance on Wollaston Ave.).

Led by speaker and trans activist Renee Manning, “Transgender 101” will introduce you to one woman’s transgender experience and familiarize you with the basics of transgender identity. You’ll have an opportunity to ask questions and to advocate against gender identity discrimination. Admission is free and the event is handicap accessible.

A native to the Boston area and a minister-in-training, Renee Manning has presented “Transgender 101” to churches, colleges, town-wide venues and police stations throughout Massachusetts. In her 35th year working for Raytheon, Renee has been married to her wife Serena since 2014 and is a proud parent to two adult daughters and two adult step-sons.
